The Roles of the National Competence Centre for Social Innovations

The National Competence Centre for Social Innovations brings together experts, the academic community, non-profit and local organizations with the aim of improving support for projects that provide solutions to social and societal problems.
The National Competence Centre for Social Innovations, operating under the auspices of the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic, covers and implements the following key activities:

Support for Social Innovations

  • Identification of societal challenges and the proposal of innovative solutions
  • Financing and incubation of projects with societal impact
  • Support for entrepreneurs and organizations in the field of social entrepreneurship

Connecting Actors

  • Creating platforms for collaboration between the public sector, academia, businesses, and civil society
  • Developing community cooperation and partnerships for social benefit

Gathering and Disseminating Knowledge

  • Creating databases of good practice examples, analyses, studies, and guidelines for the implementation of social innovations
  • Organizing activities and events to raise awareness

Supporting Research and Impact Assessment

  • Collaborating with research organizations to examine the effectiveness of social innovations
  • Introducing methodologies for measuring social impact

Policy Development and Support for Strategic Planning

  • Collaboration of representatives from state and public institutions with the administration in drafting policies that support innovative solutions to social problems
  • Recommendations for improving the legislative and financial environment for social innovations
